Whether on their own or together, a black and white combination always makes a bold statement. Using the 2 ends of the spectrum such as black and white in this living room, we created an upscale and luxurious ambience.
We decided to paint the walls in Benjamin Moore’s “OC-27 Balboa Mist” to introduce a warm greige shade and create a contrast with the pure crisp white wall trims, chair rails and mouldings painted in Benjamin Moore’s “OC-65 Chantilly Lace”. We incorporated trim details to add a subtle sophistication and transitional touch to the clean modern furniture.
This white and black haven features two 9’ Cristof sofas that are symmetrical and are upholstered in a plush JF chenille. We paired them with two eye-catching Lauren wing chairs and two Noa poufs to continue the symmetrical effect. The Lauren chairs are upholstered in a black Maxwell chenille leopard print adding drama and edge while the Noa poufs are upholstered in a Telefina geometric cut velvet creating a focal point and elevating the room.
The Kate Spade hand-tufted wool rug delineates the room with this rectangular double border. It provides a solid base that adds dimension and depth to each piece of furniture. Elegant and serene, this living room acts as both a formal and relaxing space. The light-filled interior features a Tommy Sofa that is upholstered in a taupe Kravet velvet and piped in a contrasting off-white tone.
The clean lined sofa with its supreme comfort is definitely a forever piece. The inviting Tommy sofa is paired with a chair in the same style and in this case seeing double isn’t a negative thing. The contrasting Robert Allen print of the Tommy Chair has shades of off-white, taupe, grey and sky blue allowing both fabrics communicate with each other without being matchy-matchy.
The soothing light grey walls are enhanced with a collection of fresh and serene floral photographs. Symmetrically placed, the 4 white frames balance the room while evoking comforting colors such as blue and green. We placed a floral arrangement that sit behind the sofa creating a bright focal point with its slender vases filled with tall graceful Phalaenopsis orchids.
The two Tia Poufs introduce bold teal accents without being big dominant pieces. The two tufted poufs are adding a lot of interest to the room without detracting from the peacefulness. Accessories such as the Pansy Mugs, Tira Vase and City Carpet introduce pops of green and blue teal hues and provide enough color and pattern to lift an otherwise neutral space.
